2007, Nov– / Hyperbolic paraboloids

previousnext
This geometry project is a brief research on one of the most suitable mathematical surfaces for architecture. The hyperbolic paraboloid is a ruled surface, so it can be easily built out of straight elements like metal bars or wooden battens. In this composition I also use loft surfaces to connect the parabolic elements, generating a continuous (and differentiable) surface with the looks of a lichen.
